Education Quality and Accountability Office Advisory Committee

The Education Quality and Accountability Office Advisory Committee (EAC) is charged with providing advice on EQAO programs and policies through the Director, Assessment and Reporting, to the Chief Executive Officer. EAC replaces the Assessment Advisory Committee, established in 1996. It was a committee of EQAO charged with providing advice on assessment activities only. Since the role of EQAO involves more than large-scale assessment, the committee has been repurposed and renamed.

  • To provide a forum for stakeholders to share expertise and provide advice to EQAO relating to English- and French-language assessment activities, research, reports, accountability frameworks, engagement with Ontarians and approaches to equity and inclusivity;
  • To disseminate information to the constituent organizations and represent them when providing input and feedback to EQAO;
  • To promote the analysis and use of EQAO data to improve student learning in Ontario;
  • To promote assessment and evaluation of student learning that is based on expectations at the classroom, board, and provincial levels; and
  • To provide advice on the means of communicating EQAO information to parents, students, teachers, school boards, media, the general public and the Ministry of Education, and on means of using the information in partnership with these stakeholders.
